Kalyan Minaret
The Kalyan Minaret, towering in the historical center of Bukhara, is one of the most famous and recognizable symbols of the city. This majestic tower, built in the 12th century, reaches a height of almost 47 meters and served not only as a religious, but also as a navigational landmark for travelers and caravans following the Great Silk Road.
The architecture of the minaret is striking in its detail and beauty. Its cylindrical base is decorated with exquisite ornaments and calligraphy made in the brickwork technique, which makes it a masterpiece of Islamic art of that time. The upper part of the minaret ends with a bulbous dome shape, typical of the architecture of Central Asia.
